A Mega Millions ticket sold in California has won the $1.2 billion jackpot, lottery officials announced. The ticket, sold at Sunshine Food and Gas in Cottonwood—about 145 miles north of Sacramento—matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball during the Friday, Dec. 27 drawing. This marks the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won in California, according to a release from the California Lottery.

The winning numbers were 3, 7, 37, 49, and 55, with a Mega Ball of 6. The Megaplier was 3x.

Four additional tickets sold in Arizona, California, Missouri, and Texas matched five numbers to win $1 million each. Meanwhile, over 5.6 million other tickets across the U.S. earned prizes ranging from $2 to $30,000.

With this jackpot claimed, the grand prize for the next drawing on Tuesday, Dec. 31, drops to an estimated $20 million, with a cash option of approximately $9 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot had rolled over since Sept. 10, when a Texas player won an $810 million prize.

How Mega Millions Works
To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls plus the gold Mega Ball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350. Tickets cost $2, though prices are set to increase to $5 in April. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
